I’m building software around the people and information behind a real-estate deal. The NCE application is one substantial part of the wider Deal Theory Lab vision.

- Who it helps: Exchange organizations and deal-making communities
- The problem: Members need a better way to connect opportunities, relationships, and complex deal information.
- My role: Product creator, workflow designer, and platform/ licensing lead.
- Structure member, property, and deal-package information
- Design the meeting and conference workflows an organization uses
- Develop a licensing model around the wider platform

A decision behind the work
- The challenge
- A deal package is only one part of an organization’s work.
- The choice I made
- Design around members, opportunities, meetings, and conferences as connected workflows.
- The evidence
- The NCE organization application within the wider Deal Theory Lab platform and licensing vision.
The story
This one takes a little explaining. Real-estate exchange communities bring professionals together around properties, opportunities, and possible deals. There is the information about the deal, and then there are all the people, conversations, meetings, and decisions that make something happen. Deal Theory Lab is the software vision I’m developing around that whole picture.
I’m interested in making the information easier to work with in the setting where people actually use it. A member needs to find the right material. An organization needs to run its meetings and keep things organized. A deal package needs enough structure for someone else to understand it. The NCE organization application is a substantial part of this work, with its own member, deal, meeting, and conference workflows.
The broader ambition is a product that could serve other organizations through licensing. For now, the work is in making the actual application useful and dependable, one workflow at a time. I like that this project asks me to connect my real-estate knowledge with the careful thinking that software requires. It is a substantial undertaking, and I want its usefulness to justify the effort going into it.
A closer look at the thinking
- The problem
- A collection of deal information still leaves people to connect the dots.
- My thinking
- Design around members’ actual workflows, rather than treating the platform as a document shelf.
- What I’m creating
- Deal Theory Lab’s wider platform and licensing vision, with the substantial NCE organization application inside it.
What I’m creating
I’m developing the wider Deal Theory Lab platform and licensing vision. The substantial NCE application sits within it, with member, deal-package, meeting, and conference experiences.
